Le Tour de France, one of Europe's greatest sports events has chosen Rotterdam for its 2010 Grand Departure: Le Grand Départ. During 4 day Rotterdam will be all about cycling. On 1 July the official presentation of the participating race teams on Willemsplein square. Take the opportunity to ride the official track yourself. One day later various events will take place along the track of the pre-stage, le prologue.  Saturday 3 July is the day of the 9 km prologue. On Sunday 4 July the pack of the riders will depart with a Tour de Ville towards the Erasmus Bridge where the official starting shot will ring out for this year's Tour de France. In the run up to Le Grand Départ various New Energy events will take place in the city connecting themes like sustainability, excercise, health and youth with cycling.
