During the spring of 2003 we made a tour along the Silver Route in
Spain. This route, once constructed by the Romans between Seville and
Asturia connects Northern and Southern Spain. This way they could transport the
silver mined in the Sierra de Gata.. Our tour starts at Seville and follows the
route until Zamora, where turn off towards Madrid. The route takes us through
Extremadura, traditionally a remote area of Spain and birth ground of the
Spanish conquerors of Central and South America as well as through the Western
part of Old Castile. The latter regions has highlights like the university town
of Salamanca and the fortified town of Zamora. Below you find our
itinerary. |
